Third Factor

The Third Factor is the central force of autonomous growth in Dąbrowski’s theory. Unlike the first factor (biological inheritance) and the second (social environment), the third factor reflects the conscious, self-directed choice to pursue higher values and ideals.

It enables:
• Resistance to conformity and social pressure
• Development of one’s unique personality ideal
• Ethical self-determination and inner freedom
• Active participation in one’s own transformation
