Level I: Primary Integration

Primary integration represents psychological unity based on biological impulses and social conditioning. Individuals at this level show little inner conflict because their values align with external norms.

Traits include:
• Egocentric behavior and low empathy
• Absence of self-reflection or internal hierarchy
• Conformity and dependence on environment
• Stability mistaken for health

Despite appearing “well-adjusted,” this level lacks the tension needed for growth.
